The Kawa Jazz Jam!

It's my pleasure to be hosting the Kawa Jazz Jam with Steve Fletcher on the B3 Organ and Jon Day on Drums. If you haven't been Kawa Espresso Bar is a wonderful little cafe on 8th street. They have excellent food and drinks and have been hosting a Saturday afternoon Jam for a while now (long enough that I'm not sure when it started!). Their support for the community has always been awesome so I hope you'll come down and hear some new and old players throw down some tunes!

Show 3pm - 6pm

Baritone Madness!

Baritone Madness.jpg

Keith O'Rourke, Pat Belliveau and I are bringing our Baritone Saxophones to bear with Kodi Hutchenson on Bass and Tyler Hornby on drums. In the tradition of the Three Baritone Saxophone Band of Ronnie Cuber, Nick Brignola and Garry Smulyan we will pay tribute to the music of the great Gerry Mulligan as well as our own Baritone heavy compositions. It should truly be a night of Baritone Madness!

The B3-4tet is baritone saxophonist Gareth Bane’s first feature project since returning to Calgary from New York City. It is a groove engine for the resonant baritone combined with the power of the B3 organ to create a sonority till now unknown to the Calgary scene.

The group features Gareth Bane on baritone saxophone with Steve Fletcher on the B3 organ, accented by Ralf Buschmeyer on guitar and unified by Jon May on drums. The project focuses on jazzed up rhythm and blues with a mix of traditional and original music.
